Q. Microsoft doesn’t like your programs. My anti-virus software is also not really happy about them.
A. This is a Microsoft problem. There is nothing wrong with the programs. I suggest that after downloading the zip file you scan it with your virus software. Then extract the files and scan the individual files. They are virus free. Set them as an exception in your virus software and you’re good to go!
Q. We are planning on using the monitor on an upcoming project. Can the monitor be run on its own without the menu program?
A. Yes. Once registered all the utilities can be run without the menu system. The menu system is provided as a convenience. Good luck with your project and let me know if you need any help.
Q. The UDP stuff is kind of sketchy. Can we get further information?
A. Yes. A programmers guide is provided with the paid version. Since it includes port and encryption information, it is not provided with the free version.
Q. This is the strangest menu system I’ve ever seen. How does it work?
A. It is! You can move the menu by clicking with the left mouse button anywhere that is not a button. The circle in the upper right-hand corner ends the menu program. It’s also transparent. Have fun with it. After the programs are registered you can start them without the menu system. Your call.
Q. Select crashes when it tries to load an image.
A. Sorry. This has been corrected in version 1.0.0.2. Select assumed a three channel matrix, which is the default. If a grayscale image, with one channel, was loaded it caused the program to crash.
Q. In your video you make the statement that live video to still image is very useful. How so.
A. I love live video to still image. Think about it. I can create 1800 negative images in one minute just by walking around with the camera. How long does it take you to accumulate 1800 images?
Q. In the Sample OpenCV Commands file your traincascade command has no -numStages option. What’s going on here?
A. The default for -NumStages is 20. Instead of trying to guess how many stages are optimal, I set -acceptanceRatioBreakValue 4.12e-5. 4.12e-5 is the optimal value for a good cascade. The trainer will exit when this value is obtained.
Q. Why do you need administrative rights to run Alluvion Setup?
A. Setup needs to create an Alluvion directory in Program Files.
Q. The output file from Select doesn’t work.
A. Oh it does. The problem is that I don’t know your directory structure, so the images are described as their complete file location. Edit the file in notepad to fit your directories. Also pay attention to the error message. You may have to change / to \ in certain situations.
